After 21 years at the helm of Dance Sensations, I chose a new path, one where I could share the wisdom from my own rollercoaster ride as a studio owner. Now, I pour my heart into Dance Principals United and Studio Growth Club, aiming to lift others up in their studio ownership journeys.

Integrating the intense world of running a studio with personal life, especially as a mum of three amazing daughters, has been my superpower. I’ve lived through the unique challenges of juggling business and family life and emerged with a treasure trove of insights and experiences.

Together with my dynamic duo, Rebecca Liu-Brennan and Nathan Barr, I've also co-founded Dance Teacher Expo. It's more than an event; it’s a gathering of minds and talents from across the dance world, creating a space where ideas flourish and connections are made.

My career is a mosaic of experiences – scaling a small studio to a bustling hub, continuous personal growth, and even snagging awards like 'Local Business Person of the Year' and the top honor at the Australian Small Business Champions award. These accolades are dear, but the real prize has always been the journey and the people I've met along the way.

My journey as a dance studio owner has taught me that brilliant performances and trophies don’t automatically translate into business success. Driven by this realisation, I delved deep into the world of business management, applying the same discipline and determination that I bring to dance.

Today, PAWS stands as a testament to this journey. Our Pre-School program's leap from 30 to 250 students in just 6 years is a proud achievement. Furthermore, our Entertainment Company offers invaluable, real-world performance opportunities to our students, while contributing significantly to our revenue.

I’ve now fully stepped into the CEO role at my Studio, I lead a team of 24 amazing staff, which allows me to focus on what brings me joy in my business. This evolution into a leadership role ignited a new passion in me – mentoring other dance studio owners. Through Dance Principals United and Studio Growth Club, I am committed to helping studio owners build the studio of their dreams.

The year 2021 was a milestone with the launch of our Dance Cirque program, introducing the magical world of Circus Arts to more than 70 schools across Australia and New Zealand. This initiative isn't just business expansion; it's about spreading the infectious joy of dance and performance.

My community spirit doesn’t stop at the studio doors. As the Head of Fundraising for the Penrith Community Kitchen, I help nourish 500-800 homeless and disadvantaged individuals every day, a role that deeply resonates with my core values. 

I'm also thrilled to be one of the brains behind the Dance Teacher Expo, alongside Amanda and Nathan. This event has become Australia's premier gathering for dance teachers and studio owners, fostering a vibrant community of dance professionals from around the world.

My love affair with numbers and tech began long before my studio life. With a solid background in mathematics and finance, I've spent years crunching numbers as an accountant, analysing financial software, and sharing my knowledge as a high school maths teacher. I bought this unique blend of skills with me when I made the leap into the dance studio world full-time in 2015, though I've been involved since its inception in 2001.

At Dance Sensations, I was the man behind the scenes, ensuring every figure added up and every system ran smoothly. My passion? It's helping studio owners demystify the often-intimidating world of numbers in their businesses. From understanding the financial ins and outs, navigating the ever-evolving landscape of Facebook ads, to implementing time-saving systems in your dance studio – consider these my superpowers.

The decision to join the studio full-time wasn't taken lightly. In late 2014, Amanda and I took a leap of faith, purchasing a 1200 square metre commercial space for our second studio location. It was a game-changer, allowing me to merge my love for numbers with the dynamic world of dance.

My goal has always been to simplify the complex. Whether it's breaking down the finances for easy understanding or leveraging technology to make life easier for studio owners, I believe in empowering through knowledge and practical solutions. I'm here to guide you through the intricacies of running a financially successful and efficient studio, ensuring you have more time to focus on what you love most – dance.
