Well, hello, friends, happy Monday. I hope you are all super amazing. I have the incredible Trish and Matt here from static with me today. They own a studio in plumpton New South Wales, it's pretty close to my studio, we're kind of about 2025 minutes apart. We are both celebrating our 20 years. They are incredible studio growth club members. And I know they're gonna inspire you so much today. How are you, Matt and Trish?
Speaker 1 0:59
We are so well. Thank you for having us. We're excited to jump on and have a chat with you and hopefully inspire some more other studio members. Yeah,
Rebecca Liu Brennan 1:09
well, I know you guys will. Hi, Matt. I know that, hey, I'm so pumped to have you guys. You know, Trish chatted at one of our events at a studio growth club event. And everyone was just blown away by how inspiring she was. And Matt, I know you are super inspiring as well. So, so excited to have both of you on.
Speaker 2 1:29
Thank you very much. Thanks very much for having us.
Rebecca Liu Brennan 1:32
All right. So I wanted to chat a little bit, first of all about the incredible way that your studio has built and grown. Now, I know that you guys have won 11 Business Awards, like what performing arts of the year, or what have you won, tell me all of that sort of stuff.
Speaker 2 1:48
So we've Yeah, so we've won 11 Business Awards. So we've been very blessed to do that. And we have also, we've won the same Australian business awards as well a few times. And also we've taken out the
Unknown Speaker 2:07
out our business of the year last
Unknown Speaker 2:11
year was that one as well. So we've won
Speaker 1 2:13
11 Business Awards to string and champion Australia Business Awards and Business of the Year. That
Rebecca Liu Brennan 2:20
is incredible. And like say, do you write your own thing for that? Do you get someone else to write it? Like because I know a lot of our members go into business awards? So what is like, obviously, you've got an incredible business, and that's a big part of it. But how do you do that whole thing? Like how do you win so many awards? It's crazy.
Speaker 1 2:39
Oh, my goodness, that's such a good question. So I think, um, you know, the very first time we entered, well, maybe the first three or four times we were writing our own submission. But after that, as our business grew, and then every time the business came around, we were trying to cram the entries within two days, and you know, get it done, because as studio owners, we're trying to get everything done last minute. But then Matt thought of a really great way, you know, as we kind of do things into events to you know, note it down, and, you know, take note of what we've done and put it in a spreadsheet, or, you know, as we're doing events throughout the year, we will kind of, you know, putting it aside and writing a few things down. So when it came to the submission time, we were able to just quickly go off the few little dot points, but no man and I no longer do them anymore. Because it's it's such a lengthy process. But you know, one of our gorgeous staff members, Lisa, she does that for us. And basically, it's all there for her but she just puts the whole thing together. And then a week before it's due, yeah, about
Speaker 2 3:44
a week before it's due, she'll send that over to me, I'll go through it just to make sure that we haven't missed anything or add extra things into there. Be ever like Trisha, we just noted down as the event happens, because throughout the forget actually how much you do in that one year, and to remember everything you've done when it comes to doing the submission, you forget you forget a lot of things out. So So yeah, so that's how we sort of do it and it's worth for us
Speaker 1 4:11
to express even like taking pictures as well. So like you know, if you kind of make an album and or you have to take two seconds to upload, but then you can just jump to that folder or the you know, pictures are there. So it's really good to capture all of it while it happens then trying to squeeze it in as we do all the time.
Rebecca Liu Brennan 4:31
And that's so true. And I feel like studio owners forget the amazing things that they do do because like I was talking to someone on a tribe call the other day and she was like yeah, I'm doing this like breast cancer fundraiser thing on the Sunday. We're all the parents are coming in, but she wasn't telling anyone about it. She wasn't putting it out. Like I said, you should really call your local paper and tell them that oh, you know, like put it on your socials. Like we do these things as a part of our studio but we don't ever share it and I love that you You guys are trying to remember all of that, because I never remember all that stuff like you just get. So, since the next thing coming the next thing coming, right?
Speaker 1 5:07
Yes. And I think, you know, it was only until we were, you know, Midnight trying to get the entries in that we were like, we can't work like this anymore. So I feel like it's when we are at our depths, it's when we're like, we can't do this anymore. How can we be clever about it? So I think that's when you know, systems and everything start to fall in place. Yeah, but you know, it's, it's, it's definitely something that studio owners should definitely try and enter or try to enter. You know, it takes a I think it takes about three or four years to understand how it works. But it's also a really good time to reflect on your business to like, when we go through it. And when Matt reads it, like, Did we really do that? Again, you just forget about it. But at the same time, the questions the business, and, you know, the local business awards, the questions they asked you, it's sometimes go, Oh, we don't do that, you know, we haven't done that. And it's an area that you kind of oversee, but then you start to see and and start to apply things. I
Rebecca Liu Brennan 6:09
love that I love that. Now wanted to talk to you guys about your incredible community. I've watched you, you know, the whole way through. And we've kind of crossed paths, heaps and heaps, obviously. But I've always looked up to how much you build your community, how beautiful your community is, like, the way that you go away on trips with your community, there's so many incredible things. Is that what your main part of your studio? Is that what you really wholeheartedly feel that you want to create as this incredible community? Yeah,
Speaker 2 6:36
we, we do think it's very important for our studio, and also sort of us as a family as well sort of to go away and make special, special sort of moments and special times with our parents, our students, and to travel because we find when we add the studio, you are extremely busy. So you do get to talk to parents. But when you're actually away, touring with them, you actually have time to just sit there and actually just have a real connecting and a great conversation and connect with the kids and parents on a sort of personal level. Which is which I think is very important for the studio, and also for our parents as well to really get to know us as well as, as just normal people, not studio owners.
Speaker 1 7:25
It's now become a huge thing. You know, I think once we started this, we didn't realise what will kind of beginning. So when we did our first one, well, we're doing Melbourne at first and doing a lot of trips to Melbourne to the Crown casino and during that competition, and then parents started loving. And then when we did our first trip to the US, and then parents were kind of like what's next? What's next. And now our families are just saying what's the next ship because now all they do is they do the trip, they then start to save and then look forward to the next trip as well. So it's just since then it just hasn't stopped.
Rebecca Liu Brennan 7:59
Yeah, it looks huge. Like when I see how many people are going away with you. I'm like, wow. But I guess like anything. It's one of those things that builds right like it, like you said, and how do you announce it in your studio? Like do you do this huge announcement? Do you do like a night for it? How do you like build that up in your studio?
Speaker 1 8:18
So already, like we're going away in about six, five weeks?
Unknown Speaker 8:23
I mean, yeah, for five weeks or five weeks, we're
Speaker 1 8:25
going away on a cruise. And I'm straight after that. Well, already, we've already started thinking about our next trip because we know that's going to be the first question when we come back. Um, but we do a, we make a little video. The last, when we went to Fiji last year, we had, we just had like our little cameras set up and we had our two boys we got them involved and we're sitting there and then we were about to make a huge announcement was saying you know, going live in you know, on this day on at this time, so all the parents are like waiting to jump on Facebook and we we kind of make it part just part of our community. We don't make it as part of like, you know, the public because we just wanted to you know, kind of make it more personal. And then we're say we're going to and we work on our flower laser sunglasses, our pineapples, the boys jump in and we announce Fiji Yeah, so it's really cute. Everyone's like waiting. We definitely try and you know, make more of a video then just announced that with a poster or something like that, because yeah, it's more exciting and it just creates that that height. And and it's something that the parents really look forward to.
Speaker 2 9:40
Yeah. And then we also then will have a big event that and invite everyone to come in and add in all the information. So everyone sort of knows a bit more about it. And then yeah, then they can make the decision if they want to jump on board or it's not for them very much. We
Speaker 1 9:57
also get their tour directors for on global Dance Tour, they come out and then they announced to you know what we'll be doing the itinerary. So like the height for the information night, after us releasing it is another night that everyone's so excited because I want to know, what are we doing each day? Where are we going? I
Rebecca Liu Brennan 10:16
love it. And do you do a lot of dancing in it? Or is it more like community based stuff? Like, how do you work all of that?
Speaker 2 10:24
For Fiji, the last tour we just did, Fiji was probably a lot of community based, we did do a little bit of dancing, but it wasn't sort of more focused on just dancing. And we found it was great for the kids to sort of go back to the villages, and see how they live over there in Fiji, and also sort of a culture, see how they're living and how blessed we are here in Australia. So yes, I did think it was it was a fantastic opportunity, where they had a bit of dancing involved, but then also a community. A lot of community involvement over there as well. And then we
Speaker 1 11:03
had a lot of student owners reach out to us saying you went to Fiji like how is that we just want to go to Fiji but not dance, but kind of just do it as a community, you know, experience and we will like do it. Like if that's something you want to do, you know, we definitely encourage it. But this our cruise, which is in a couple of weeks, that's more to give the experience and the exposure of you know, to our students, this is this is what it will be like to be a dancer on a cruise ship.
Rebecca Liu Brennan 11:28
Yes, I love the cruise ships. I've done it with global as well. And it's so much fun. Like, it's amazing. The kids have a ball. And yeah, it's I love cruise ships too, because you just jump off and then you see different places all the time as well like yes, yes. And
Speaker 1 11:45
the value, we believe the value for money is just too good for families because you know, to go away now for a family of four or five, it's very costly. So you know, a cruise with all foods included, because we know that's where we spend a lot of money, and we've got the kids, they're hungry all the time. And so yeah, it's cruises is definitely one of the, you know, one of the highlights. So, we're off again,
Rebecca Liu Brennan 12:10
that is so impressive. Now, one of the things I love about your studio and something you'd spoke about at the event, trash was your team, and how you allocate tasks to your team. And, you know, your team is obviously very important to you talk me through that a little bit. Because I feel extra here, I just forget how important team is.
Speaker 1 12:30
It is I think if you invest in your team, it's something that you will see your business grow without even realising I'm the part the one of the most important things that we really, truly try and navigate Inspire. And we're also learning from our team as well, you know, constantly, as you know, there there, there are members who are constantly on tick tock or you know, seeing what's out there and what's new, and what's fresh, we're, you know, sometimes just, you know, we're deep into running everything. Um, so virtually the ones the, you know, that continue to inspire us. But we, we do a few things with our team, to celebrate them to hear them and to kind of navigate. But the one thing that, you know, we've we truly kind of love is our one on ones. So we take time in each term to sit with them and to chat with them. And some, you know, some little chats might go for 15 minutes, because it's just to check in by our one on ones, we're normally navigate, like 45 minutes, an hour, depending on what's happening within that term. And to make sure that our teachers understand, you know, we have, you know, what we're doing with the student growth club, you know, there's so many events happening that we need to make sure that they're kind of on board. But the one on ones is to basically check in. And when we check in, we literally asked about like, how are you going in every class? Is there any students that we need to be aware of? Or, you know, how we can help? Or is there any students who are shining that we can ask to join our league competition teams, and you know, it's, it's, it's time to give back to them because sometimes they walk in, they're like, hey, going, hi, buy back into class, and then they're rushing out again. So it really is a time where we give them our moments just to sit and chat. And it's something they do really appreciate and they always hear to like at the end that they are being heard or if there's anything that they've been a little shy or don't know how to bring up certain situations, it's that time that they can bring up those things or celebrate wins and, you know, recognise challenges. So it's a moment where we or 45 minutes or an hour where we can just score together.
Rebecca Liu Brennan 14:49
I love that I love what you're saying as well about is this child do we need to help a child is there a child in there that maybe needs you know, to go into something different is that like we don't know that and you're not teaching in the class, unless you're gonna go in and watch every single class, which I'm pretty sure none of us have time. In that class, that's, that's so important, I think, for us to reach out to them. Right? Definitely.
Speaker 1 15:13
And I think to like, you know, for those students who may just need a little bit of encouragement, or this, if there's situations like, we then have that time to call that parent and to check in and parents then love that too. Like, otherwise, if we don't have that conversation, how do we know anything? And it's just that builds on retention as well. Yeah, absolutely.
Rebecca Liu Brennan 15:33
I want to ask you guys, like, because it's my 20th year as well. And you know, I always talk about how much I've changed as a studio owner like it's crazy. What do you think, in the 20 years, have you changed the most from when you first started, like, you know, what, what have you really changed that you're like, oh, my gosh, thank goodness, we've changed that, because that was like, not great. Well,
Speaker 2 15:57
probably teaching everything. So when we first started, I was doing Yeah, I was doing the tap, the jazz the hip hop's the Acrobat sort of everything. Where now i will i we don't sort of teach as much anymore, we might just teach a couple of hours a week now, rather than teaching every single every single class. Yeah. Well, that's the biggest thing I can come to mind straightaway. Look, I
Speaker 1 16:23
agree. Yeah, we're definitely not in the classrooms teaching. But we're definitely there present, you know, kind of walking through. But you know, where we've, we have our team leaders who we chat with, once a week, and you know, they then go ahead and look after each department of our school, but we're definitely not in the class, because, you know, we are quite a large dance school, like we're over 600 students. So I'm, it's from starting from 60. I'm not being in the classroom as much like not teaching the classes, but also to I think, as I've grown, I've, you know, put on a business hat, because we all open the studio for same reason. We love dance, we love to teach, but then it turns into a business. And then you start thinking differently. So that's probably one of the biggest things that I've noticed. And, you know, saying the word entrepreneur, that's so, so weird to say in here and to think that way. But I think when you do think of yourself as that you kind of have a lot more confidence as well in running a business. And another thing is talking to parents, I've definitely grown more confidently, in chatting to parents, because I think once we knew who we were and the culture we wanted to build, we knew and once we knew our values, we knew exactly how we could talk to parents, because we knew what we had to stick to.
Rebecca Liu Brennan 17:47
I love that that's like, that is so powerful. And it's been so powerful for me as well, because I know when I first had the business, I would just bow down to everyone and try and make everybody happy. Yes. And like and be so devastated when kids left and then just didn't have an identity or my business didn't have an identity. And as soon as I changed that, like I'm so strong in my beliefs and what the studio is now that I do feel safe to exactly what you're saying, say to parents, no, that's not how we do it here. Even if that means they're going to leave, you know, because you feel strong in your own self. It that takes a lot to get to that right though. Like, that's not an easy place to get to.
Speaker 1 18:25
I think that's, you know, you can't naturally just get to that point, you have to it takes it takes time. You have to figure out who you are and what you want to run. But, you know, that definitely takes time. And I think, you know, if studio owners can sit down and figure that out, then they you know, your direction, and what you want to build is exactly what it will be.
Rebecca Liu Brennan 18:50
Yeah, absolutely. 60 To 600 That's pretty insane. What do you think has made that I mean, obviously, you've had great marketing, but you know, what has been consistent to help you to get to that point, because that's, that's a big point to get to right. Like that's pretty crazy.
Speaker 1 19:08
Yeah, definitely, um, marketing. We have a great marketing person here. Cory Pawlowski, he's, you know, we're definitely, um, you know, sitting down and having a look at what needs attention within the studio and he was the person that came the idea of, you know, having, if you check it out, Instagram page identity is, you know, we have like a pattern that we follow, and that pattern is to kind of, you know, target different areas within our studio that needs it. But definitely, you know, community performances, you know, doing all the little things, it's not just kind of doing competitions, but, you know, being out there and being exposed, like we have our name that was in a car park at the local shopping centre, you know, it's on like, kind of, on the back of fences on roads. It's Facebook ads, it's word of mouth has probably been our biggest, our biggest form of advertising. And what else is there?
Speaker 2 20:09
Yeah, we do local, our local shopping centre, we do like the Christmas parades. Or if they've got a, an event happening, recently, a local shopping centre just turned 30 years, so they asked us to be the entertainment. So just like you said, being in the community, we think it's very, very important because it's giving back to the community. And it's not always about just competition competition, because we think it's very important for, to Yeah, like, just to give back to our community,
Speaker 1 20:41
and also raise students to know that it's important to give back, like, it's not just about themselves, it's like, you know, you have a skill you, you dance so well, and how can we use that to help others. And so that's been a great life lesson. And, or, um, you know, the Facebook, like, you know, as Nathan said, many times, the Facebook groups, you know, where all the mums are at, you know, so you need to find them, and, you know, connecting with them, you know, childcare centres. But I
Speaker 2 21:14
also think it's very important to more than going off track a little bit to actually really get to know your, your customers, your parents, and students, going down to the waiting room, walking around, having a conversation with them, chatting with them, just so that they know that on a sort of a personal level, not that they're just a student that just comes to the studio, and then walks out. I think if if you can show that you really do care about all these students of yours. As a parent, I think it's very, very important because I know, like our boys, when they go to soccer, or swimming, it's always nice for the the owners or the teachers to really know our students and, and sort of know them by their names. I think it's very, very important.
Speaker 1 22:05
Matt's very big on our students, knowing our teachers, our teachers, knowing all the students names, it's such a our customer rep here, she would know nearly all the 600 kids names here like and that's her job because she's representing, you know, us to our whole studio and Tracy, she's fantastic. So yeah, but I think definitely word by mouth is probably our biggest. And then just connecting with your local shopping centres and being out there, like putting your name out there. I think the number one thing that I've always said to Matt, within our community, is when someone says I want to go to a dance studio, I want them to see our logo straightaway. I want them to know our name because it's been out in the community. So that's always been our goal. I want to go to a dance studio or aesthetic dance studios. That's, that's how we've always wanted our community to think yes,
Rebecca Liu Brennan 22:52
I love that so much. And it's people we don't realise, studios don't realise the power of doing those community events like I'm obviously so Intuit as well. And I talk about it all the time. But the power of that, like it's not just a little fairer, or fate or something, or a shopping centre, it is a huge opportunity marketing wise for you to get yourselves out there. And I agree, like it's important to give back to your community. Now, you mentioned your boys, and I know you guys now are really dedicated to spending time with them. Because as studio owners, we often miss out on so much family time. Tell me about that process how you got into that headspace because they grew up so quick. I was saying just before we started BBs 14 Now, you guys have known her her whole life. You know, and it does go so quickly that time.
Speaker 1 23:42
It does it does. And like and I was saying to you, Greg, like, you know, I remember seeing her the her first ever, you know, solo performance, and you're standing at the back and you're so nervous. And you know, now she is where she used like, you know, it just goes so quickly and you forget the year. So I think for us, you know, our boys are quite young. They're seven and four. And so we really feel as though this time is so important, because we're not going to get back the time. So about two years ago, we made the decision that, you know, for 10 weeks, we, you know, we're dedicated to static and we give everything we can. But then we decided that every school holidays, we were giving, you know at least five to seven days of just pure time of family and connecting and making memories. I think making memories has become such a huge part of our lives now that you know where it's, we don't want our boys to say to ever say or our parents always worked so hard. We want our parents to say yes, our parents work so hard, but they always we always went on holidays together. This is where I remember this is where we went and that's that's just been so important to us. We don't want to give away time we actually want to capture them. We want to live them and remember them so you It might be a three day trip just to the entrance or the Central Coast or it might be to Fiji and might be on a cruise. And even when we go away on Saturday holidays to like, you know, with global dance, they look after everything. So we are actually getting a lot of family time with that as well. So I think if student owners can, you know, in January, take the time to say write in this month, it's time for family, like if you're able to do that, and you stick to it, and you let your whole team know that nothing's allowed to be booked on that vent, because that is for family, they will respect that. And they understand that too. So if you can invest as much as you invest into your business, invest in your family, it's something that your family or your boys in your, your family will remember. But for us to but didn't have that parent guilt.
Rebecca Liu Brennan 25:53
Exactly. And obviously, like you would have amazing team, if you went away when term was on or something like that, or still had classes going on. You've got a you've worked really hard to have a team there that you trust, right?
Speaker 1 26:05
Yeah. And I think that's definitely you know, something we need to I just recently went away with my mom to Europe for three weeks.
Unknown Speaker 26:13
I didn't everyone I stayed.
Speaker 1 26:16
And that was that was a champion of a business owner, a husband and a dad and looked after everything. But Matt really looked after our boys, you know, because it was school, it was uniforms, it was dinners, it was lunches, it was pickups, and, you know, so Matt was still at the studio, but the studio really ran itself as well. And he didn't have to do so much extra because you know, of the like everything that we've put into place, our team just arrived in the studio rent itself. And so it's something that we are able to do, which, you know, again, takes time, and it takes the hard lessons, you know, you have to kind of fall down to get back up and then put the systems into place. But if you take you know, as I was saying at the presentation at the SGC. Club, if you take an hour a week of just, you know, applying those things, and putting things into place, then it will allow you to take the family holiday that you need.
Rebecca Liu Brennan 27:15
Yes. And I think that's the key. Like, I think sometimes people I'm going to Europe this year as well with my mom. Really, I seriously I'm not Oh, amazing. Yeah, but like, I think that what people don't realise is that it takes so much time and effort to get your team to that point. And sometimes I think people see studios like yours and mine and they think are they're just so lucky to be there. But there's so much hard work lessons, energy, constantly re looking at things and going okay, that didn't work. Why didn't it work? Like, there's so much of that that's gone on? And I'm not saying that anyone can achieve it? They absolutely can. But it didn't just come easily, right? Like, you know, it's 20 years. And you're getting that year or two?
Speaker 1 28:04
Yes, yes. And I hope it comes a lot earlier for many other shoe owners, but it's 20 years, you know, it's, you know, we both had to do everything ourselves. And again, I think that's one thing that we talked about back to is that, you know, that everyone starts off doing absolutely everything within the business, like accounting and teaching and you're being a receptionist, and you're writing back to all the emails. So you know, it's good to identify that, you know, some studio owners are still in that boat. But we all started there. And I hope that inspires people is that we will once were you were to but it's so achievable to get to where like, you know, having the 600 students so but you know, we have the late nights of three 4am in the morning, you know, everyone has done it, but it is achievable to them. Build a team, where you are able to go away and your team can look after the business or the business looks after itself. I love that
Rebecca Liu Brennan 29:00
you guys are such rockstars I want to finish with your comp though. So I've been doing your comp. I feel like since it started I don't know. I feel like I've been doing it forever. Yes. Yeah, always been out.
Unknown Speaker 29:14
Thanks for your support. Oh, gosh,
Rebecca Liu Brennan 29:16
it's the best comp of the year. We always start with your comp. I just want to know like, what are you used from what you've learned in your studio at the comp because it is the absolute best run comp that I've ever done and the feel of it. I can imagine how good the feel of your studio is because I feel like that's how good the feel of the copy is like, you feel welcome if you're happy there. You don't feel like you're in that angry competition world that I think some cops feel like, you know, it just has this beautiful amazing feel. And you guys book out straightaway, right? Like I'm always really panicky with that you get a book. But yeah, tell me a bit about your camp.
Speaker 2 29:58
Um, okay, so it's I don't know how to explain it. And we're very, very lucky that we have a lot of people that do support us. And our comps. And we run three year, June, July and September and, and they did sell out within an hour of them going live, opening up. So we're very lucky that everyone, like I said, supports us. I think it's got to do with the systems and making sure everything is organised correctly. So when the day comes, everyone knows what they're doing. Everyone's got their stations, and then to the day run sort of smoothly, I do think it's very important that it's, even though it is a competition, we're all there for the same reason. We're there to, for our students to number one, have the best time on stage and walk away happy doesn't matter if you win this section, or have you come highly commended or you don't come a place? Yes, don't get me wrong, it is a bonus if that happens. But if you don't, it's come the following week, you go to another step. And you might win this section. It's one person is opinion at the end of the day, and everyone likes sort of different things. So I just think it's very important. kids enjoying themselves on stage. It's not too stressful for for teachers as well on the day, because it is a long day. So they've also got to enjoy enjoy the event as well. So, so that's pretty much where I I feel like maybe that's why our event exists as well. I'm not not too like not 100%. Sure. Sure. Do you think anything? Yeah.

So look, Matt. Yeah, he basically runs the ultimate while look after the studio. But I think what he's forgetting to say is that, you know, he, he he holds these meetings beforehand, you know, and he has team meetings beforehand, too. And we are putting across what it is that we want studio owners and students to feel on that day. So you know, we're talking about the vibe, we're talking about the experience, and, you know, and then we're kind of, you know, as we do within a studio, were identifying all the places within the like the Ultimate Dance spectacular. So, you know, there's a, there's the four year there's the photo booth, there's backstage, there's runners, there's music, and you know, we have a little teachers area. So it's like, what kind of experience we want to give to our studio owners, because number one, they have to be looked after. So their studios are looked after, but what experience are we giving them, so then they are walking away, like, you know, feeling happy and accomplished and that they've achieved something. So you know, it's taking the time as a team to identify that, and making sure that your team is aware of that. So yeah, it's it's just, you want to know your end result? And how can you achieve that, but where I mean, our it has to come down to our volunteers because they volunteer their time who were very grateful for, and we take him out. And we have a huge party and a big deal. Because we always love to celebrate with drinks and food. But you know, it's just making sure that everyone knows what what experience you want to deliver. And how can we achieve that?
Rebecca Liu Brennan 33:13
Yeah, and like, I love the teacher room, there's no other comp that I've ever done that has a teacher room where we all sit in there, chat to each other, compliment each other on their routine on our routines. You know, it is just the most incredible thing. What I love about what you said, though, and what I think students can take back is that's what you should be doing with your concert. When you have a concert, you should be going okay, what is the experience of this parent and child from the second they walk into the second they leave? You know, what it does every single person know what they're doing? Does every single person know the field that we want for this concert to have? So that's incredible. You know, like, I think that's when we're doing events, we really need to think about that. I've talked to so many car owners, and they're just like, yeah, everyone's just backstage and they just kind of do whatever. And I'm like crazy to me. So do you have the same feel with your concert? Are you so on top of making sure everyone knows exactly what they have to do that that experience is incredible. Like, just talk me through that? Yeah,
Speaker 1 34:15
it's exactly the same process. You know, I we actually talk about our concerts in the next school holiday. So in July, we'll just start talking about ideas. But then come October, we have like a two day meeting, which is all about showcases. So this year, we're running six showcases, and we'll talk about each one. And again, just the you know, we'll talk about the ID and the field. And once we know what that is, then that's when you can take the actual steps of accomplishing that. So, again, it's putting you know, I think that the the three things that studio owners need to think about is when you're running an event is the first three questions is what do people see? What do people hear? And what do people feel? So you need to answer those three, three questions. So when people walk up and turn around the corner, what do they see? What do they feel? And what do they hear? So, you know, we've always I'm a person that hates dead silence because if there's music playing in the background, it's a vibe already. And lastly, we had under the sea, so we had the didn't, didn't, didn't didn't like, you know, we had that song playing in the background. We had a mermaid there, which is just one of our seniors just so beautifully as a mermaid. And our preschool is just thought it was a real mermaid, say the vibe, and you know that we had a merch table and for our big concert, you know, our Senior concert, it's the photo booth. We have, like, interviews going around, we have photographers and videos and they just love that they're being interviewed or that they're on camera. You know, so they're the three questions that you should be asking yourself and if you can answer that then you are putting on a spectacular event.
